 Overview

Location: Located immediately NW of the town of Elliot Lake, Ontario.
Size: 416 ha (12 claims, 26 units)
Target Minerals: Uranium
  • If historic drilling can be duplicated there is believed to be potential for upwards of 10 million tons grading in the range of 0.0375% to 0.05% U3O8

 Regional Exploration and Production:
Abitibi Mining Corp. has staked and optioned a land position within and around the Elliot Lake Uranium Camp in Ontario. This land package has been built based on historical drill records that intersected uranium mineralization similar in style to former Elliot Lake deposits. The position consists of 3 claims located in Gunterman Township within Sault Ste. Marie Mining Division.

 Other Local Exploration:
There are 12 past producing uranium mines in the immediate area. The Elliot Lake Mining camp commenced operations in the 1950's with the discovery of uranium by Denison Mines in exploration drilling. Two major companies, Denison Mines Ltd. and Rio Algom Ltd. operated 12 mines that collectively produced 550,000 tonnes at a grade of 0.1 to 0.2% U3O8. Rio Algom Mines adjoins on the north of the east part of the property. The former Silvermaque property adjoins on the east. First Canadian Uranium, a subsidiary of Pele Mountain Resources holds claims to the west of Abitibi's ground. Canada Enerco Corp. holds ground to the northeast of Abitibi Mining Corp.

 Property Geology:
Uranium mineralization occurs in beds of pyritic conglomerate and coarse grained arkosic quartzites. Most of the deposits occur within the Matinenda formation close to the underlying Archean basement or underlying Huronian volcanic rocks. The highest uranium values are found in the pyritic quartz pebble conglomerate beds which occur on the property

 Historical Highlights:
Drilling by Long Lac Minerals encountered 0.052% U3O8 over 3.4 meters in drill hole NNF77-1. Drillhole NNF77-2 intersected 0.04% U3O8 over 1.9 meters
